Luggage Zippers
Luggage zippers take more stress than apparel zippers. Suitcases, garment bags, and travel cases usually need a flexible nylon coil or a molded plastic zipper that can wrap around corners without the teeth popping. Closed-end styles and zipper chain by the yard are the most common choices for luggage repairs; separating zippers are only needed when the bag is designed to split completely.
Match the gauge to the original zipper (#5 is common on smaller bags; #8–#10 on larger cases) and replace the slider if the old one is worn. Extra-long chain is available when a finished length is not listed.
