Reversible Zippers
Zippers listed on this page are already made reversible or can be modified to be reversible.
Reversible zippers will have the word "Reversible" in the product name. No modifications are needed.
Zippers without the word "reversible" in the product name can be made reversible, but need to be modified by Zipper Shipper. Simply check the "make reversible" box on that product page.
What are Reversible Zippers?
Reversible zippers are zippers designed to be used from both the front and back. The fundamental construction is the same as a conventional zipper, apart from the fact that reversible zippers have different sliders/pullers and typically won’t have any kind of concealment or protection over the rear side of the zip.
What are Reversible Zippers Used for?
Reversible zippers are used for any kind of reversible garment or item. This includes:
- Coats, jackets, vests, etc.
- Hoodies
- Sleeping bags
- Handbags and backpacks
In short, anything that can be reversible (such as a double-sided jacket) needs a reversible zipper to remain functional.
What Materials are Available for Reversible Zippers?
The actual zipper teeth materials are the same as for conventional zippers. These include molded plastic, brass, aluminum, and more.
The zipper slider is different to allow for double-sided use. Typically, it’ll either have a swing-around handle or it will be double-sided. A swing-around slider has a groove so you can flip the handle from one side to the other. A double-sided slider, on the other hand, simply has 2 handles (one on each side).
The tapes and coatings of reversible zippers remain the same too. For example, you can have waterproof or coated zipper seams, just as you can with conventional zippers. However, on reversible zippers, you won’t have any kind of backing tape, as this would prevent you from using it from both sides.
